ATTENTION
TEACHERS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS:
Education
of our youth is always a top priority for us at the shelter. If
your school or group is in the City of Salem and you are interested
in scheduling a tour of our facility or having a member of our staff
visit your classroom, please contact the shelter manager by email,
rdcuster@salemva.gov
or
via telephone, 540-375-3038. We look forward to helping you educate
our youth in animal handling and care!
Please continue to help give
homes to shelter animals. The adoption fee is only $30.00. In
addition to getting a great loving pet to add to your family, new pet
owners will also receive:
- $28.00 Gift Certificate towards neutering or spaying of your new
pet if it is not already spayed or neutered (A large number of cats
are already spayed or neutered awaiting adoption.)
- An additional 25% discount for neutering
- Free examination of your new pet by a participating veterinarian
- Free initial vaccines and deworming

We are still giving out vouchers
to owners of animals who live in Salem to have their animals spayed
or neutered at a reduced fee. Effective July 1, 2004, we supply
vouchers only to residents of the City of Salem. The vouchers
are worth $28.00 towards that cost. You may pick up a voucher
at the shelter during operation hours. All
you need to have is verification (drivers license) of your address and
